At the heart of cultural diplomacy is the idea that experiencing something together brings us closer. So, if we can experience dance with someone, we are less likely to think of them as the “other,” and more likely to think of them as that dancer with whom we had an incredible time or with whom we learned and grew! Another important tenet of cultural diplomacy is teaching and learning that go both ways – or flow between two parties with equitable value.

To engage more deeply with our DMV dance community, to better understand with whom and for whom we create, HSB will be participating in a Winter/Spring cross training series with three sister companies: Chitra.MOVES, Project ChARma, and The Lion’s Den.

Join these movement workshops and community discussions to share/trade creative process rituals, acknowledge our dance histories/lineages, discuss choreographic innovation, and identify commonalities and differences in our forms.

Email heartstuckbernie@gmail.com by 1pm on the day of the workshop to register and receive parking lot and building access code.  Walk-ins welcome through 2pm, but you’ll need to call or text Sarah for building access after 1pm.

This project is supported in part by funding from the Montgomery County Government and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County.
