Harrow Wing premieres on November 17th and 18th on a group of 14 American University dance students at The Greenberg Theatre, and reprises with HSB company members on December 16th at Atlas Performing Arts Center.

The work started as an exploration of deep group tuning and extreme physicality. It was devoid of narrative, or even emotional arc –merely time and space to play with the rigor of listening, leading, following, and pushing intensity to our edges. But…then events on the American University college campus, horrific acts of violence in our country, war in the Middle East ended up being the things that pushed us to our edges. Grief crept into the choreography. I tried to slow down time, just to get enough space to process the events of the day. Rehearsals seemed to forge onward – not in spite of, but in order to combat a weirdly endless marathon of sorrow endurance. We gathered. We gathered. We made the gathering a ritual. This dance is a group response: quiet, slow, reserved, then flying, defiant, lit toward some tomorrow.
